Anything Goes. Experiment. Wax candle gesture drawing. Light watercolor wash using 3 or more colors. Develop compliment colors from original 3 colors. Create some darker colors for contrast. Kosher salt. Rubbing alcohol.
After the class was over, I continued working in a method that was introduced to me at the American University of Judaism. I always have the dilemma of figuring out which way the painting should hang when it is abstract.
I moved the paint by tipping the paper and letting the paint drip into place. Again some interesting textures came about wax candle, using Kosher salt and rubbing alcohol applied with a dropper.
Which side is up? Horizontal or Vertical? That is always a question for me when I am working on abstract painting. There is always a dominant side. Usually it is in the original position from which I work from, even though I keep turning the painting around as I work. The outcome is always unexpected.
